Fashion Portfolio
To me, fashion is a comfortable aesthetic state enabling the identification of an individual despite intersectionality. It transcends borders and goes beyond race and gender.
08 THE NORMDOC 12/2020
GARMENTS: 1 /SIZE 6
FABRICS: RED MESH /BLACK COTTON
A fashion piece from my collection “THE NORM” where I created exaggerated garments with mesh fabrics to challenge societal expectations of dressing conventionally. By naming the collection “THE NORM”, I urge to highlight the irony of society's insistence on normalcy, finding the significance of redefining what normal is.
Growing up in Yuen Long, a rural area of Hong Kong known for its slower pace and large elderly population, I observed the routine and mundane aspects of daily life. Inspired to bring vibrancy to this environment, I sought to inject saturated colour and liveliness into the routine lives of this place.
Through my design, I aimed to break free from the rigid structures of fashion and find amusement in the ordinary aspects of everyday life. Guided by my belief that "every day is a fashion show," I aimed to transform the mundane into something exaggerated and celebrate the beauty in embracing individuality while breaking free from the constraints of conformity.
