To me, fashion is a comfortable aesthetic state enabling the identification of an individual despite intersectionality. It transcends borders and goes beyond race and gender.

06 Beyond the Eclipse: Rediscovering Hong Kong’s Cultural Aesthetic Through Fashion
DOC 05/2023

GARMENTS:   1 /SIZE 8
FABRICS: STRIPE LINEN /WOOL TARTAN /WOOL SUITING /DENIM /VINYL LEATHER
My Project aims to delve into the cultural significance of fashion in Hong Kong, particularly during the colonial era, and how it has shaped the city’s identity and aesthetic representation. I am fascinated by the concept of identity loss, as Hong Kong went through a period of colonization where its cultural heritage was suppressed and overshadowed by British influence.

Through this project, I hope to shed light on the complex history and cultural dynamics of Hong Kong during the colonial era, and raise questions about identity, representation, and cultural significance in the context of fashion. By creating a garment that reflects a mix of cultures and aesthetics while capturing the unique essence of Hong Kong, I aim to express my own identity as a part of Hong Kong through fashion and contribute to the discourse on cultural representation and preservation in the post-colonial era.
